 Paying a visit
« Thread Started on Apr 24, 2009, 4:39am »

It was a two days later after his name was cleared that Fox was keeping his word about checking in with someone after everything was cleared. The weather outside was rainy and looked like a storm was coming, another cold front moving in. They were calling for a chance of snow later.. it wasn't a good day outside at all. However it was a good day for Fox.. he was no longer on the run from the police and his good name had been restored. The last thing he should have been doing was moving around. His body was recovering from being on the run.. fighting a bad infection from the two bullet wounds that he had closed off.

His whole body ached and hurted even though he was on meds from the doctors. It had taken doctors a few hours to remove the one in his back with how close it was to his spine. There was some nerve damage from that.. That basically caused his right to be feel a little less pain.. the nerve damage was very minor.. It would just take him a bit more than what it used to to feel pain on that right side. Mostly his shoulder and arm..

Fox was sitting on the floor of the autopsy room, he just need to get off his feet for a while. His body was still weak after all he checked himself out against doctors orders.. He was waiting Sid to show up, he knew that the older male would appear at some point in time. Fox was keeping his word about talking with Sid once everything was said and done.

Sid had gone and talked to Mac shortly after Fox had left the morgue two days ago. As much as he had wanted to berate Mac for sending his friend down to see him, he couldn’t bring himself to do it quite as effectively as he should have. Sid had left Mac’s office understanding why Mac had done what he had and confident that if anyone would be able to clear up the mess it would be Mac. It may take some time but he would get it done eventually.

But that confidence hadn’t freed Sid from all worry. Every time his phone rang he expected it to be the police calling him in for questioning. Every strange look he got from a person made him all the more wary. He had tried to tell himself numerous times that he was being paranoid but being paranoid wasn’t always a bad thing.

Now, he was just heading back to the morgue to finish up his last autopsy of the day before he got to go home. Sid stepped into his home away from home and headed over to the covered body he had left laying out on the autopsy table, not noticing at all the living body sitting down on the floor. He uncovered the body and bunched up the sheet.

Sid walked over to the counter on the back wall and placed the sheet on top of it. He turned around, and that’s when he finally noticed Fox. “Back so soon?” he asked, surprised that Mac had worked so fast on clearing Fox’s name.

The week following his visit to Sid was hell basically, he had someone who gave him a place to hid out for a few days after he was shot twice by a cop. He was thankful for that however he didn't stick around for that long, the kid gave him an uneasy feeling and plus he didn't want to stick around too long in one place. Luckily it a day or two after he left that kid's place that Mac found him and told him that his name was just cleared. But before he could even say thank you to his friend, Mac was ordering him to the hospital.

Now he knew he would not be hearing the end of it from Mac once his friend found out that he checked himself out against doctors orders. However Fox had lots that he needed to get done, he needed to find a place to stay and figure out what his next step was. The only thing he was sure of was that he was done being a cop. There was no way he was ever going to pick up a badge or gun again. His eyes glanced up when he heard someone coming into the lab, seeing it was Sid a faint smile appeared on his face.

He had remembered how kind and warm Sid was towards him even with all the risk he was taking. Fox allowed the older man to go about his way, he didn't want to bother him or anything like that. At the moment, he was content just sitting there watching Sid go about what he needed to get done. Fox was a person of a few words, his actions often spoke louder than his words. His eyes glanced up from the floor when Sid finally addressed him. "I just wanted to say thank you for all that you did. Also I promised that I would pay you a visit when things were cleared up. How are you?"

Hearing the word that things were cleared up from Fox's mouth was like music to Sid's ears. Everything was going to be fine now. Surely, he couldn't get in trouble for helping Fox out if they found out about it after his name had already been cleared, could he? There was no telling what you could get in trouble for these days. Best not to ponder on those kind of thoughts right now, though.

"I'm very good. Thanks," Sid replied. "How are you feeling?" Fox sure looked like hell to Sid. "Been to the hospital yet?" he asked. It looked like he had at least paid the hospital a visit but it also looked like he should still be in there.

Sid picked up his scalpel, as he looked at the body laying down on the metal table: white male in his early 60's with a gunshot wound to his chest. "I hope you don't mind if I work while we chat. This is my last autopsy before I get to go home. I promised my wife and kids that I'd cook dinner tonight." Sid hoped Fox wasn't one of those people who got all squeamish around blood and guts.
