Long Haul (Joey) « Thread Started on Jun 20, 2009, 11:42pm »
Adam shifted his weight on his feet as he stood over one of lab tables looking down at a set of prints he’d dusted from a gun. He was removing them slowly with tape and placing them into the scanner when a wave of exhaustion hit him and he closed his eyes for a second.
Music buzzed inside his ears and head but his lips had stopped moving and a hand was coming up to rub at his temple. How long had he been at work? He didn’t know, longer then he was supposed to be, but it beat going home, going back to the apartment he could barely live in, let alone visit for more then a few minutes.
Deciding he needed air or something with an energy boost he headed out into the hallway and without watching where he was going slammed into someone.
“S – Sorry!” he cried, instantly removing his ibuds and going to help the person he’d bumped into.

Joey had been working hard all day, comparing bullets and wound tracks for a case he had been given. He had finally finished what he needed to do about fifteen minutes ago and had just given the information into the detectives. As a result he was moving down the hall way towards the vending machine so he could grab a granola bar. He had forgotten his at home that morning, and he still had to bring in a box to keep at work, so he would spend his money buying one.
He was only walking around with one crutch instead of two, as it was easier to carry folders and other items around with one. He had been wearing his prosthetic earlier to shoot the test fires he had needed, but it was itchy so he decided to take a break from it for a little while. He wasn't paying that much attention to the people around him, like he usually did and as a result he got bumped into. It was on his left side, which wasn't the side with his crutch, so it didn't effect him to much.
However when he heard the male apologizing he turned around to see who it was. It was someone he didn't know yet and as he had some down time, he thought he might stop and talk to the man. "Don't worry about it. No harm done. I wasn't paying much attention either." he said looking at the man before adding "I'm Joey by the way."

“It’s – It’s these late hours,” Adam said as if that explained it all, which in Adam’s reality was only one of the many reasons. “They – They tend to throw you off a bit.” He shrugged and looked up when Joey introduced himself and immediately smiled outstretching a hand.
“I’m – I’m Adam,” he said. “I – I think I saw you maybe once in the hallway before probably – uh – probably in passing but never got a chance to say hello.” He was wrapping the cord for his ibuds around his ipod and slipping it back inside his pocket as he stood there and then looked back down the hallway nodding in that direction.
“Got – um – time for a cup of hot chocolate? Or – Or coffee?” he offered, knowing that company could always be fun, especially when it was with someone new.
